Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before you ride

General

What is Xion Motors?

Xion Motors is an electric vehicle company specializing in high-performance e-bikes, e-mopeds, e-motos, and electric trikes. We design our vehicles to combine real-world performance with head-turning cyberpunk aesthetics. Every Xion is built with motorcycle-quality components and sold direct to you — no dealership markup.

Are Xion vehicles street legal?

It depends on your state and the model. The CyberX E-BIKE operates as a Class 2 or Class 3 e-bike in most US states (no license required). The CyberX E-MOPED and E-Moto reach speeds of 55–70 mph and may require registration, insurance, and a motorcycle license depending on your state. The VorteX Trike is classified as a low-speed vehicle in many jurisdictions. We recommend checking your local DMV regulations before purchasing. Contact us if you have questions about a specific state.

What is the difference between CyberX and VorteX?

CyberX is our performance-first line — built for speed, range, and real-world utility at an accessible price ($6,550+). VorteX is our statement line — featuring the signature LED-lit triangular frame, oversized off-road tires, and cyberpunk aesthetic for riders who want to stand out ($6,950+). See our full model comparison page for a side-by-side breakdown.

What is the difference between STEALTH and LIGHTNING editions?

STEALTH is the base configuration at the listed price. LIGHTNING is the premium upgrade — it includes enhanced components, upgraded battery, and additional features. The price difference ranges from $950 to $1,950 depending on the model. Both editions are available on every vehicle in our lineup.

Do you have a physical showroom?

We are a direct-to-consumer brand. Contact us to arrange a viewing or demo — we want to make sure you love your Xion before you buy.

Shipping & Delivery

How long does shipping take?

Vehicle orders typically ship within 3–7 business days and arrive within 7–14 business days depending on your location. Parts and accessories typically ship within 1–3 business days. You will receive a tracking number by email once your order ships.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently ship within the United States. International shipping is available on a case-by-case basis — contact us before placing your order to confirm availability and costs for your country.

How are vehicles shipped? Will it arrive assembled?

Vehicles are shipped via freight carrier on a pallet, partially assembled. Final assembly (handlebars, seat, front wheel) requires basic tools and takes approximately 30–60 minutes. Detailed assembly instructions are included. If you prefer professional assembly, any local motorcycle or e-bike shop can assist.

What if my order arrives damaged?

Document any damage with photos immediately upon delivery and contact us within 5 days at our contact page. We handle each case individually and will make every effort to find a satisfactory solution — whether through replacement parts or, if necessary, a full vehicle replacement.

Battery & Range

What is the real-world range?

Range varies by rider weight, terrain, speed, and temperature. The CyberX E-BIKE achieves up to 120 miles under ideal conditions; the E-MOPED up to 100 miles; the E-Moto up to 75 miles. VorteX Trike delivers up to 60 miles. Aggressive riding at top speed will reduce range. Most riders see 60–80% of the maximum range figure in typical use.

How long does charging take?

The VorteX Trike charges in approximately 5 hours from empty using the included 5A 72V charger. Other models vary — expect 4–8 hours for a full charge depending on the model and charger used. Using a higher-amperage charger (available separately) can reduce charge times significantly.

Can I ride in the rain?

Xion vehicles are built to handle light rain and wet conditions. We do not recommend riding through deep puddles or submerging any electrical components. The battery and controller housings are weather-resistant but not waterproof.

How do I store the battery long-term?

Store the battery at 40–80% charge in a cool, dry place (ideally 50–77°F / 10–25°C). Avoid storing at full charge or fully depleted for extended periods, as this degrades lithium-ion cell life. If storing for more than 30 days, check and top up the charge monthly.

Warranty & Returns

What warranty do Xion vehicles come with?

All Xion vehicles come with a manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The battery and motor are covered separately. Contact us for full warranty terms applicable to your specific model. Pedicabs include a 2-year frame warranty, 1-year motor warranty, and 1-year battery warranty, plus lifetime phone and email support. Warranty coverage is confirmed for commercial multi-driver use.

What is your return policy?

Vehicle returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery for vehicles in original, unridden condition (odometer under 25 miles). A non-refundable fee of 50% applies to all vehicle returns; return shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Parts and accessories can be returned within 30 days if unused and in original packaging. See our full Returns, Cancellations & Warranty Policy for complete details including cancellations, damaged orders, and refund timelines.

Can I cancel my vehicle order?

Yes — vehicle orders can be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase for a full refund. After 24 hours, or once your order has entered production or shipped, a 15% restocking fee applies. See our Returns, Cancellations & Warranty Policy for details.

Can I return a battery?

Battery purchases are final sale. We don't accept returns or exchanges on batteries except as explicitly covered under warranty, and only after Customer Support has approved the replacement.

What if a part breaks after the warranty period?

We stock OEM replacement parts for all models in our Parts & Accessories section. If you can't find the part you need, contact us — we maintain a comprehensive parts inventory and can source components not listed on the site.

Financing & Payment

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer Shop Pay Installments at checkout, which lets you split your purchase into 4 interest-free payments or longer-term monthly payments. Select “Shop Pay” at checkout to see your options. No hard credit check required for the 4-payment option.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover), Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal. All transactions are secured via Shopify Payments.

Is it safe to order online?

Yes. Our store is secured with SSL encryption and powered by Shopify — the same platform trusted by millions of businesses worldwide. Your payment information is never stored on our servers.

Parts & Service

Where can I get my Xion serviced?

Any experienced e-bike or motorcycle mechanic can service a Xion. The drivetrain, brakes, and suspension use standard components. For electrical work (motor controller, battery), we recommend a shop familiar with 72V lithium-ion systems. Contact us if you need help finding a service provider in your area.

Do you sell replacement parts?

Yes — we stock a full range of OEM replacement parts including motors, brakes, pulleys, wheels, tires, batteries, controllers, and body panels. Browse our Parts & Accessories collection. If a part isn’t listed, contact us directly.

Are parts compatible across CyberX and VorteX models?

Some parts (charger, battery, certain electrical components) are shared across models. Frame-specific parts like wheels, body panels, and swingarms are model-specific. Each product listing notes compatibility. When in doubt, contact us with your model name before ordering.

Pedicab Fleet Program

What is the Xion Pedicab Fleet Program?

The Xion Pedicab Fleet Program lets you launch and operate a commercial electric pedicab business in your city. You purchase a fleet of Xion commercial-grade pedicabs, deploy them with the Chariot app for dispatch and fare management, and run your own operation. Xion provides vehicles, technology integration, branding support, maintenance contracts, and ongoing operator support. Learn more about the Fleet Operator program.

How much does it cost to start a pedicab fleet?

Fleet pricing is available for 3+ vehicles. The 3-seater pedicab and 6-seater pedicab are available with fleet pricing for qualifying operators. Contact us for a quote customized to your market, vehicle count, and timeline.

How much does a pedicab fleet cost?

A 3-cab starter fleet runs $40,500 before options, with volume discounts of 10% at 3+ units and 15% at 10+ units. Operators typically recover the investment in under 12 months. See current pedicab fleet for sale pricing.

What markets are available for pedicab operations?

Xion supports fleet deployments across 59 U.S. markets. View all options on our Available Markets page. Urban entertainment districts, resort areas, waterfront corridors, stadium zones, and downtown cores are the strongest performing markets.

Do I need prior pedicab experience to start a fleet?

No prior pedicab experience is required. Xion’s fleet package includes a driver onboarding program, Chariot app training, and operator support to get your team running. Many successful operators come from hospitality, transportation, or events backgrounds — not the pedicab industry.

What does Xion include in a fleet package?

Fleet packages include: commercial pedicabs delivered and configured, Chariot app integration for dispatch and fleet management, custom fleet branding, preventive maintenance contracts, driver onboarding, and fleet telematics. See full fleet package details.

How do I apply for the Fleet Operator Program?

Visit our Fleet Operator page or contact us directly with your target market, intended fleet size, and launch timeline. Our team will review your application and provide a quote within 2 business days.

Pedicab Specs, Add-Ons & Support

Who manufactures pedicabs in the USA?

Xion Motors manufactures commercial electric pedicabs in San Diego, California — frames made in America, vehicles engineered, assembled, and road-tested at the San Diego facility. Learn more on our pedicabs made in the USA page.

What is the best commercial electric pedicab?

For commercial fleet use, the Xion 3-seat ($13,500) and 6-seat ($15,000) electric pedicabs are built specifically for daily commercial duty: 750W direct-drive transaxle motor, 72V 58Ah battery, 1,500 lb capacity, hydraulic disc brakes, and a 2-year frame warranty confirmed for multi-driver use. See all commercial electric pedicabs.

What motor and battery do Xion pedicabs use?

Xion pedicabs use a XION-brand direct-drive transaxle motor — the motor drives the rear axle through a differential, a far more durable design than in-wheel hub motors under full commercial loads — paired with a 72V 58Ah XION-brand lithium battery mounted under the passenger seat. Both are designed and supported by our team in San Diego.

How long does a pedicab battery last per shift?

About 5–6 hours of operation per battery under full commercial load, including at altitude. A full charge takes about 5 hours. Operators running long shifts can add a second battery to double their range.

What is the weight capacity of a Xion pedicab?

1,500 lbs.

Do pedicabs come with brake lights and blinkers?

Yes — every Xion pedicab comes standard with brake lights and blinkers. The optional LED lights package adds colorful programmable LED accent lighting.

What add-on packages are available for pedicabs?

Popular add-ons include the canopy package (canopy frame and canopy, additional $1,200), the LED lights package, a second battery for double range, and the custom branding package — a full advertising wrap around the pedicab that most operators have an advertiser or sponsor pay for.

Are pedicab parts in stock, and is remote support available?

Yes. Parts are stocked in the USA — a mix of proprietary Xion components and industry-standard parts — and remote technical support is available. Warranty claims are handled by shipping you the replacement part and walking you through installation on a tech support call.

Is there a recommended maintenance schedule?

Yes — our technicians will go over recommended maintenance intervals for each component with you during onboarding. The most common maintenance items are tires and brake pads. References from operating fleets are available on request.

Costs, Comparisons & Operating FAQs

How much does pedicab insurance cost?

Commercial pedicab insurance typically runs $150–$300 per vehicle per month, depending on your city, coverage limits, passenger operations, and claims history. Most cities require a commercial general liability policy (commonly $1 million) before issuing a pedicab operating permit. Xion connects new operators with insurance providers experienced in commercial pedicab fleets as part of the Fleet Operator Program.

How much does it cost to replace a pedicab battery?

Xion pedicabs use a 72V 58Ah lithium battery designed for years of daily commercial service. Replacement is only needed when capacity drops below about 80% or the pack is damaged — typically a fraction of the vehicle’s value. Because batteries are stocked in San Diego, there is no long overseas wait. Most operators add a second battery to extend shift range rather than replacing early. Contact us for current 72V 58Ah pack pricing.

Pedicab vs. tuk-tuk — what’s the difference?

A tuk-tuk (auto rickshaw) is a fully motorized three-wheeler that generally requires registration, insurance, and a driver’s license to operate commercially in the U.S. A Xion pedicab keeps the pedals with electric assist, qualifies as a Class 2 e-bike in most markets, and typically operates with only a local permit — no vehicle license — giving it access to bike lanes and pedestrian zones a tuk-tuk cannot use. For most U.S. passenger and advertising operations, an electric pedicab is the lower-friction, lower-cost choice.

What’s the best pedicab for hot weather or a beach city?

Xion electric pedicabs are built for hot, high-use markets. The electric-assist drivetrain means drivers aren’t exhausting themselves in the heat, and the optional canopy package ($1,200) shades both passengers and driver. The sealed 72V battery and hydraulic disc brakes handle beachfront and boardwalk duty, and the frame is engineered for 300+ operating days a year. For beach cities, most operators add the canopy and often choose the 6-seat model for higher-volume boardwalk routes.
